Health Care Excel of Kentucky Inc. Board of Directors

The maximum membership on the Board of Directors of Health Care Excel of Kentucky, Incorporated (HCEKI) is five. The term of office is two years with two subsequent reelections limiting the length of service to six consecutive years. We anticipate replacing one Board member (20%) at each annual meeting. HCEKI complies with all standards for appropriate governance structure and functions. Consumers are represented on the Board from both the Medicare fee-for-service and Medicare Advantage plans.

Beverly J. Glascock, J.D.

Beverly J. Glascock, J.D., was elected to the Board of Directors in November 2007. Her term ends in October 2011. Ms. Glascock brings legal and nursing experience to the board, having worked as a registered nurse in medical surgical and transitional care while earning her law degree. She graduated, magna cum laude, from the University Of Louisville School Of Law in 1990. As a practicing attorney, Ms. Glascock focuses her trial work and appellate practice on behalf of people injured by medical malpractice and drug products. She has been recognized by The Million Dollar Advocates Forum for having obtained settlements on behalf of her clients in excess of $1 million. Ms. Glascock is a member of the Louisville Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is licensed to practice in the commonwealth of Kentucky, in the U.S. district courts for the eastern and western districts of Kentucky and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is an author and frequent lecturer and has given presentations at continuing education programs for hospital risk managers and fellow members of the bar. Board compensation for fiscal year 2010 was $450.

Carol Ireson, R.N., Ph.D.

Carol Ireson, R.N., Ph.D., began her term on the Board of Directors in November 2007. Her term ends in October 2012. Dr. Ireson also is chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Health Care Excel of Kentucky. She received her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in nursing from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. Dr. Ireson is a research consultant for the Center for Health Services Management and Research of the University of Kentucky. She has served as an associate professor in the College of Public Health at the University of Kentucky and is an active international speaker. Board compensation for fiscal year 2010 was $450.

Wade Mountz

Wade Mountz, president emeritus of Norton Healthcare in Louisville, Ky., was elected to the Board of Directors in May 2008. His term ends in April 2010. Mr. Mountz holds a master in hospital administration degree from the University of Minnesota. His extensive professional experience culminated in his position as president of Norton Hospital and its successor corporations. He retired in 1989. His extensive activities include the chairmanships of the Kentucky Hospital Association and American Hospital Association. He was the Kentucky Regent of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also served on the boards of the Joint Commission, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kentucky, the Kentucky Board of Education (K-12) and many other organizations. Mr. Mountz has received numerous awards, including an honorary doctor of humane letters from Kentucky Wesleyan College and the Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Hospital from ACHE. He was inducted into Modern Healthcare’s 2008 Health Care Hall of Fame. Board compensation for fiscal year 2010 was $450.
