Serving Federal Medicare Programs
Health Care Excel (HCE) is contracted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to serve as the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Indiana and Kentucky. The company is dedicated to helping health care providers deliver quality services improving the quality of care provided to Medicare beneficiaries, and protecting the integrity of the Medicare trust fund.
The Social Security Amendment of 1965 established Title XVIII of the Social Security Act, which authorized the establishment of the Medicare program to pay part of the costs of health care services for eligible beneficiaries. The CMS administers the Medicare QIO Program, which is designed to monitor and improve the quality of health care for Medicare beneficiaries. The program consists of a national network of 53 Medicare QIOs responsible for each U.S. state, territory, and the District of Columbia. HCE serves as the contractor for the Medicare QIO for Indiana and Kentucky.
