Network Administrator


Responsibilities:

  • Provide administration of the network systems.

  • Establish and ensure compliance with network policy, procedures, and network security.

  • Maintain security standards, policies, and procedures for anti-virus software, firewall systems, e-mail systems, system back-ups, and user accounts.

  • Perform installation configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of server, workstation, and laptop hardware, software, and peripheral devices.

  • Recommend, plan, and execute upgrades of both hardware and software.

  • Develop SQL database security standards and guidelines.

  • Develop and implement SQL database replication, archiving, and backup and recovery strategies.

  • Determine and recommend hardware requirements and perform storage capacity planning for production servers and laptops for scalable database growth.

  • Monitor databases for resource utilization and initiate corrective action to ensure database servers meet processing requirements.

  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.

  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

  • Serve as a helpdesk to staff members and clients.

  • Maintain a log of issues, track conclusion, and document user profiles and updates.

  • Monitor, maintain, and manage VoIP phone system.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer information systems required, or three to five years equivalent job experience.

  • MCSE, MCP, CCNA, A++ Certifications preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows 2000, XP desktop Windows 2000, 2003 server, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft Exchange 2003, Microsoft SharePoint, and Team Server.

  • Extensive experience in administering and managing local and wide area network environments including network switches, firewalls, and routers.

  • Knowledge of network and routing protocols and VoIP is desirable. Familiarity with HIPAA data security standards, a plus.
