Health Care Excel of Kentucky, Incorporated Governance
The
maximum membership on the Board of Directors of Health Care Excel of
Kentucky, Incorporated (HCEKI) is five. The term of office is two years with two
subsequent reelections limiting the length of service to six consecutive
years. We anticipate replacing one Board member (20%) at each annual
meeting. HCEKI complies with all standards for appropriate governance
structure and functions. Consumers are represented on the Board from

Beverly
J. Glascock, JD, was elected to the Board of Directors in November
2007. Her current term ends in October 2009. Ms. Glascock brings legal and
nursing experience to the Board, having worked as a registered nurse in
medical surgical and transitional care nursing while earning her law degree.
She graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Louisville School of
Law in 1990. As a practicing attorney, Ms. Glascock focuses her trial work
and appellate practice on behalf of persons injured by medical malpractice
and drug products. She has been recognized by The Million Dollar Advocates
Forum for having obtained settlements on behalf of her clients in excess of
one million dollars. Ms. Glascock is a member of the Louisville Bar
Association, Kentucky Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She
is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the United
States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky,
and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is an author and
frequent lecturer and has given presentations at continuing education
programs for hospital risk managers and fellow members of the Bar. Ms.
Glascock received no Board compensation for Fiscal Year 2007.
Carol
Ireson, RN, PhD, was elected to the Board of Directors in
November 2006. Her current term ends in October 2008. She received
her bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees in nursing from the
University of Kentucky College of Nursing. Dr. Ireson is a research
consultant for the Center for Health Services Management and
Research of the University of Kentucky. She has served as an
associate professor in the College of Public Health at the
University of Kentucky, and is an active international speaker.
Board compensation for Fiscal Year 2007 was $1,350.
Wade Mountz
President Emeritus of Norton Healthcare was elected to the Board of
Directors in November 2007. His current term ends in October 2009.
With a master in Hospital Administration degree from the University
of Minnesota, his extensive experience centered on the position of
president of Norton Hospital, and its successor corporations. He
retired in 1989 as President Emeritus. Other extensive activities
included the Chairmanships of the Kentucky Hospital Association and
American Hospital Association. He was the Kentucky Regent of the
American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He also served on
the Boards of the Joint Commission, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of
Kentucky, the Kentucky Board of Education (K-12), among many others.
Mr. Mountz has received numerous awards including an honorary Doctor
of Humane Letters from Kentucky Wesleyan College, the Gold Medal
Award for Excellence in Hospital Administration from ACHE, and was
inducted into the 2008 Modern Healthcare—Health Care Hall of Fame.
Mr. Mountz received no Board compensation for Fiscal Year 2007.
